O'Brien's Ice Cream

"Best ice cream in Concord and dare I say East Bay goes to OBrien’s in Concord off of Bancroft Road. They serve Guanatos ice cream and popsicles and not only are they made with fresh ingredients and fruit but so good. Just my two cents from me and my toddler who agrees." — Victoria in Concord

Loard's Ice Cream

Ellen, a Patch reader from Walnut Creek, said she likes root beer floats when it's hot outside — especially the root beer floats served by Loard's in Moraga.

"They are delicious! I wish more ice cream and yogurt shops served them, though. And, with vanilla bean ice cream versus just plain old vanilla." — Ellen in WC

Kristin from Walnut Creek is a fan of the Loard's in Orinda .

It has a "great selection and recently introduced dairy-free ice cream made with cashew milk which I tried. Worth a taste." — Kristin in WC

Loard's has two locations in Lamorinda: 230 Brookwood Road in Orinda; 1480 Moraga Road in Moraga.

Lottie's Creamery

"Lottie's in downtown WC has ice cream made onsite. My fav is Vegan Chocolate, dairy free. I took a friend and with every lick, she said 'Oh My!' LOL!" — Cherie in WC

Yogurtland, Walnut Creek

"Yogurtland on California Boulevard has a good selection with ingredients printed out." — Cherie in WC

Yogurt Spot, Walnut Creek

"There is a new yogurt shop that is fantastic at the Rossmoor shopping center, and they featured a grape float, with a bottle of grape soda, and vanilla frozen yogurt, which was killer, for their daily special last week. Their gelato is also killer good! And they do snow cones too, which kids love in the summer. But still looking for more places to get a root beer float in Walnut Creek!" — Ellen, the rootbeer float lover

"Yogurt Spot in Walnut Creek in Tice Valley. They have frozen yogurt, shaved ice and gelato! Local family-owned, very clean and they serve it up so nobody is touching the machines. There are vegan options and you get two toppings with your frozen yogurt purchase. I highly recommend!" — Kristin in WC
