'She Makes A Difference In Many Students' Lives': Concord Local Hero

CONCORD, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

She is my older sister

What does the local hero do?

She is an incredible middle school teacher

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

Gina is an amazing mentor to her current and past students. She is known to help her students not only during school hours but afterward as well via phone or email. She has also sponsored many of her families during the holidays over the years to make sure they have a Merry Christmas. She has also created a beautiful garden just steps away from her classroom with her students. This has become a great place for students to go and enjoy the peacefulness of the amazing surroundings that they have created as a community. Over the years she has collected some donations from the community such as chairs and tools so that she can enhance this special space she has created for her students. Gina is an incredible teacher and you can tell that she loves what she does and has really made a difference in so many students' lives.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

I would want everyone to appreciate all the hard work that Gina does each and every day on and off the clock for her community.
