5 Takes On Lake Elizabeth

Covering more than 80 acres, Lake Elizabeth is the watery heart of Central Park in Fremont.

FREMONT, CA —Lake Elizabeth is the watery heart of Central Park in Fremont. The park and lake began development in 1960. Lake Elizabeth is dedicated to Fremont's Sister City, Elizabeth, Australia.

The park commands 450 acres while Lake Elizabeth covers 83 acres.

Both the lake and the park are beloved by local residents who use it for exercise, contemplation, entertainment and more.

The park's amenities include Aqua Adventure Waterpark, Stivers Lagoon Nature Area, four playground areas, a 2 mile walking path around the lake, fishing, dog park, golf course, six softball fields, ten soccer fields, 18 tennis courts, two basketball courts, a cricket field, a skate park, rental facilities, picnic areas, a Teen Center, the Age Well Center (formerly the Senior Center), the Fremont Community Center, the Central Park Visitor Center, and a Performance Pavilion cherished for free summer concerts. On the horizon: pickleball courts.

Lake Elizabeth is a favorite muse for photographers who are captivated by its beauty. The photo above was taken by Praveen Bhatia who captured the lake at sunrise last December.

Claudia Suan was raised in Fremont and came back to visit in April 2020 during the lockdown. She sought out the path around Lake Elizabeth for exercise and fresh air. It was her first visit in years, and noted how the trees and plants have grown, which only added to the charm of the park.
