HOLLYWOOD, CA — Another sweltering heat wave is headed to Hollywood and all across the southwestern United States. The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Watch from Thursday through Sunday to many desert communities, where some temperatures are expected to climb as high as 117 degrees Saturday. The San Fernando Valley can expect temperatures in the upper 90s until Sunday.

The heat wave is on track to be the hottest of the season, National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Boldt told the Los Angeles Times. Additionally, gusty winds and low humidity are increasing fire risks throughout Southern California. The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory throughout much of the LA County coasts and areas near I-5.

In Los Angeles, temperatures will climb to 84 Thursday, increase to 85 on Friday and Saturday, and 84 on Sunday, according to AccuWeather. Temperatures will drop slightly to 80 Monday, and remain in the low to mid 80s for the rest of the week - and likely the rest of the summer. Winds anywhere from 5-15 mph are expected during this period.
