The HBH Lion Marge Vallancey endowment is doing good! Also, avoid parts of Saybrook Lane. Finally, some stores restrict the purchase of baby formula.

  1. The WeWALK cane uses ultrasound to detect obstacles above ground. At the same time, it continues to provide a vision-impaired user with the standard ground feedback. During their March meeting, the HBH Lions gave one of these canes to a young man. “This donation was another gift from our Lion Marge Vallancey endowment. Lion Scott Quinlan is the Chair of this project.” (HBN)
  2. Public Works plans to “temporarily close Saybrook Lane from Heil to just south of Fisher for street repaving” Wednesday through Friday. (@CityofHBPIO)
  3. Supply chain issues and recalls continue to plague retailers, and if you’ve been trying to buy baby formula Wednesday, you might have seen that rules are in place. “Walgreens, Target, Kroger, and CVS began limiting purchases of baby formula.” At this time, a three-item limit is in effect in these CA stores. (Patch)
  4. What is the city doing to stop catalytic converter theft? We learned Tuesday that “etching identification numbers onto catalytic converters makes them traceable and less attractive to thieves,” which the HBPD has done in special events. The PD also suggests “parking vehicles in well-lit areas and installing protective cages on the catalytic converters.” The City Council passed “Ordinance 4251, which makes it unlawful for any individual other than a Core Recycler of catalytic converters to possess a catalytic converter that is not attached to a vehicle without valid proof of ownership.” (Surf City Break)
  5. If you’re not heading to L.A.’s blessing of the animal at Olvera Street, consider heading to the Central Park Sports Complex this Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the City puts on the Easter Hunt and Family Fun Day. Organizers are the City, Library Services Department, and the Kiwanis Club of Huntington Beach. “Thousands of pounds of candy are given away each year for this special family-oriented day! Stop by and hunt for candy, take a picture with the Easter Bunny, play a game at the many game booths, learn about summer camps and classes offered through Community Services, and enjoy the live band. Don’t forget to enjoy the pancake breakfast and the hot lunch made by the HB Kiwanis Club.” (City of HB)
