LIVERMORE, CA — Yee-haw! From Nov. 1 through Dec. 9, Livermore Police Department officers have the option to dress in Wild West attire by donating to the annual Shop With A Cop program, which provides Christmas gifts and experiences to LVJUSD students in need.

The department is trying to raise $10,000 to “adopt” more than 40 Livermore students and provide them with holiday gifts. On a Saturday morning in early December, selected students will meet Livermore officers at their schools. The officers then drive the students to Walmart, where they are greeted by the Granada High School band and LHS and GHS student leaders. They’re then treated to a shopping spree to select gifts for themselves and their families. After the shopping is completed, the students are treated to a breakfast prepared by the Livermore Police Department, and spend time wrapping presents.
