DUI Checkpoint Scheduled For Friday In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department announced they would be holding a DUI checkpoint on Friday, June 28 in the West Division area.

According to a statement from LBPD, the locations are based on data trends that show where impaired driving-related crashes happen. The West Division includes the Port of Long Beach, the area west of the 710 Freeway and a large portion of Central Long Beach.

The checkpoint will be from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” LBPD Lieutenant Jose Flores said in the statement. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

Impaired driving doesn't just include alcohol, some prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, other illegal drugs and marijuana can also land someone a DUI.
