Man Run Over, Killed In West Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — A dispute between two men escalated when one man ran the other over with a car and fled in West Long Beach on Sunday, police said.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to a carjacking call at about 9:26 a.m. at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. When police arrived, they found a man in critical condition with multiple injuries.

"Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries," LBPD said in a statement.

According to Homicide Detectives, the victim and the suspect were involved in a dispute before the suspect struck the victim with a vehicle. The victim was only identified as a 59-year-old man.

The motive and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation, LBPD said.
