Enjoy Summer Evenings at Avra

Avra, a sprawling Mediterranean/Greek seafood restaurant specializing in whole grilled fish, seafood and Greek delicacies, is perfect for al fresco dining this summer. AVRA offers diners a choice of dining overlooking swanky Beverly Drive or inside seating their huge 11,000 square foot space with a view of the big daily fresh seafood display.

Each table gets a nice appetizer of pita bread, radishes, olives and hummus. We loved that everyone got to start their meal off with a nice variety of Mediterranean inspired hors d’oeuvres. There are also great cocktails to choose from, including the Mykonos Breeze with passionfruit, vodka, velvet falernum and lemon and Meet Me in Carfu with lime, tequila, jalapeno and pineapple.

Guests can choose their fish from the display including white snapper, Loup de Mer, dorado, Dover sole, branzino, turbot, red snapper and langoustines. The fish selection changes daily so there is always a great selection.

Diners can also choose from a wide variety of sashimi as well as main dishes including swordfish with a warm Yukon potato salad, oven baked Chilean sea bass with potato carrots and herbs in a tomato fish broth, grilled Hawaiian Big Eye tuna with Swiss chard and marinated beets, lobster pasta in a tomato sauce and grilled jumbo shrimp with eggplant potato moussaka.

Sides include wild mountain greens, giant lima beans, warm potato salad, spanakorizo, sautéed spinach, green beans and tomatoes, truffle fries, broccoli rabe, asparagus and assorted grilled vegetables.

We received a huge dessert platter with some of Avra’s specialties, including a delicious chocolate yogurt cheesecake, olive oil cake with lemon Chantilly, baklava, strawberry ice cream and assorted fruit.
