LOS ANGELES, CA —Los Angeles County restaurant Heritage became the first eatery in Long Beach to earn a Michelin Star on Tuesday, joining the esteemed list of high-quality restaurants in the Golden State.

The restaurant was applauded for the unique California accent applied to its cooking. The single, multicourse tasting was reasonably priced, Michelin said, and showcased top-notch and locally sourced ingredients from their farm nearby.

"Set in a converted Craftsman in the historic Rose Park neighborhood, this inviting locale is removed from the hustle and bustle of Long Beach. Brother-and-sister duo Philip and Lauren Pretty run the kitchen and front of house, respectively, curating an experience that’s relaxed, but gets the details just right," the Michelin inspector said.

According to Michelin, the distinction marks restaurants that are a worthy destination or detour on any road trip.

Michelin also awarded Heritage a Green Star, an annual award that recognizes restaurants that are at the forefront of the industry for sustainable practices.

"They hold themselves accountable for both their ethical and environmental standards, and work with sustainable producers and suppliers to avoid waste and reduce or even remove plastic and other non-recyclable materials from their supply chain," Michelin said.

Though no other restaurant holds the distinction of being awarded a Michelin star, there are three restaurants in the city that are featured in Michelin's Guide to California. Michelin said The Attic, Chiang Rai and Sushi Nikkei are worth a stop for anybody visiting Long Beach.
