Palm Desert Bank Is Robbed

Authorities are investigating a bank robbery pulled off in Palm Desert without a gun Thursday.

PALM DESERT, CA — A bank was robbed in Palm Desert Thursday afternoon, triggering an ongoing investigation, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The robbery occurred at 12:21 at the Mechanics Bank in the 73000 block of State Highway 111 in Palm Desert, said Lt. Deirdre Vickers, Riverside County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene when an alarm was activated.

"When deputies arrived, they learned there had been a robbery at the location," Vickers said. "No weapons were used during the incident and no injuries were reported. Deputies are currently on scene investigating."

As of 6 p.m. investigators had not released a suspect description or additional details about what may have been taken.
