U-Haul Loaded With Marijuana Crashes Into Police Station Gate

A U-Haul truck pursued from Temple City by unknown subjects crashed into a security gate at the Sierra Madre Police Department on Thursday.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- A weed-filled U-Haul truck pursued from Temple City by unknown subjects crashed into the security gate at the Sierra Madre Police & Fire Department Thursday night, police say.

The driver stated that he was shot somewhere in Temple City before driving to Sierra Madre.

The suspects in the shooting are still wanted and no suspect or vehicle description has been released by authorities. The U-Haul was filled with about 2,000 lbs. of vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana packed in cardboard boxes, police have said.

In a social media post, the Sierra Madre Police Department said that the U-Haul's driver and passenger were detained by the SMPD, but that deputies from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department's Temple Station handled the incident.

Both the driver and passenger are expected to face charges for illegal transportation of narcotics, LASD officials said. The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, according to the SMPD.
