WHALE TAIL® License Plate Program Celebrates 20th Year

Volunteers Needed for Beach Cleanup Event

One of California’s most beloved programs, the WHALE TAIL® License Plate celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. What started out in 1997 as an effort to give drivers a way to help protect and restore the priceless coast and ocean of the golden state has turned into a successful campaign funding environmental programs statewide.

The California Coastal Commission and Heal the Bay will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the WHALE TAIL® License Plate at its Nothin’ But Sand Beach and Creek Cleanup. Volunteers are encouraged to attend and support. The event will host raffles and offer prizes to attendees, while creating opportunities for new license plate sales.
