National Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory for Los Altos

Residents can expect strong and gusty winds starting at about noon and lasting through this evening, with the strongest winds near the coast

A wind advisory for both the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas goes into effect Sunday morning, National Weather Service officials said.

The advisory starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m., NWS officials said.

Residents can expect strong and gusty winds starting at about noon and lasting through this evening, with the strongest winds near the coast and around the bay, according to NWS officials.

Forecasters expect sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts of 40 to 50 mph, NWS officials said.

The strong winds may down trees and power lines and make driving difficult, according to NWS officials.

The officials suggest securing any outdoor items that are loose, such as patio furniture, and making preparations for a power outage should it occur.
