Fire Erupts At Menifee Strip Mall Under Construction

The commercial fire spread to an additional unit and a second alarm was requested, according to the fire department.

MENIFEE, CA —Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department knocked down a fire in a commercial building Saturday in Menifee.

The fire was reported around 5:40 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Newport Road and Town Center Drive, where firefighters found one unit fully involved with fire at a strip mall under construction.

The fire spread to an additional unit and a second alarm was requested, according to the fire department.

Firefighters knocked down the fire around 6:50 a.m., but crews predicted being on scene for an additional two to three hours for mop-up.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Newport Road was closed in both directions, and the Menifee Police Department was on scene providing traffic control.
