PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — LA28 officials on Friday announced more than a dozen new venue assignments for events during the 2028 Summer Olympics. Among them is the choice of Riviera Country Club for golf.

The other venues are in Los Angeles, Carson and Long Beach.

“The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will reflect all that the Los Angeles area has to offer, and with these venue assignments, we’re very proud to bring the Games to many of our vibrant and diverse communities,” LA28 Chief Athlete Officer Janet Evans said.

The Galen Center, dubbed the USC Sports Center for the games, will host badminton. The indoor arena is the home of USC's basketball and volleyball teams.

The LA Convention Center will host five sports: fencing, judo, tennis, taekwondo and wrestling.

The Peacock Theatre in LA Live will host weightlifting.

The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades will host golf. The course, considered among the world's best, also hosts LA's annual PGA Tour event and has hosted the U.S. Open, PGA Championship, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Senior Open and the NCAA Championships.

Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, home of the LA Galaxy, will host cycling-track in the velodrome, hockey at the fields adjacent to the stadium, rugby sevens in the stadium and tennis in the tennis center.

The velodrome is an official U.S. Olympic training site and is the home track for USA Cycling. Prior to its refurbishment, the facility previously hosted cycling-track during the 1984 games.

The fields, currently used by the Galaxy for training, will be transformed into a temporary hockey venue.

The Tennis Center is home the U.S. Tennis Association's High-Performance Training Center.

The stadium regularly hosts the World Rugby Sevens Series.

In Long Beach, the Marine Stadium will host canoe-sprint and rowing competitions. Those events were previously set to be held at Lake Perris in Riverside County.

Belmont Shore will host sailing.

The waterfront along Alamitos Beach will host marathon swimming and triathlon.

A temporary aquatics center at the Long Beach Convention Center lot will host water polo. The venue was previously announced as the site for artistic swimming.

Long Beach previously hosted archery, fencing, sailing and volleyball at the 1983 games; Marine Stadium hosted rowing in the 1932 games.

The games do not use existing corporate and philanthropic names for venues, in favor of names specific to the Olympics.

Officials say that in the months ahead, additional venue assignments in the city of LA and elsewhere will be announced, including for new sports that have been added since the original bid plan.

LA28 previously proposed several venue assignments that move some competitions outside of LA's boundaries, which requires written consent from city leaders. The LA City Council is currently reviewing that proposal.
