SAN DIEGO, CA — Trader Joe's, the Monrovia-based grocery chain, is expanding its presence nationwide with 24 new stores planned, including eight in Southern California, the company announced. Two of those new locations are in San Diego County, in Santee and Poway, according to the retail grocer.

The plans reflect a notably ramped-up pace for expansion.

A Trader Joe's spokesperson said the chain is opening new stores "faster than it has been in the last few years," according to a recent report in the Los Angeles Times. Soon, more Southern Californians can purchase Trader Joe's Mandarin orange chicken, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, and peanut butter-filled pretzel nuggets, among the most favored products in 2024.
