60+ MPH Wind Speeds Recorded In Big Sur, Oakland Airport

Winds above 50 mph were recorded across the Bay Area.

BAY AREA — Wind gusts above 60 mph were recorded Friday during the storm that blew through the greater Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.

Lime Creek in Monterey County's Big Sur had a 62 mph gust at 5:40 p.m. while Oakland International Airport saw a 61 mph recording at 3:10 p.m., the highest numbers in the region for Friday. Other high wind spots were Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County with 58 mph at 1:20 p.m. and Soda Springs Road in Santa Clara County at 52 mph at 4:20 p.m.

Wind speeds are set to lessen Saturday and into next week in the region.
