CALIFORNIA — Companies in California initiated layoffs in recent months, especially in the tech sector, leaving thousands of workers searching for new positions. For many, working from home is high on their list of priorities in a new job.

They will have plenty of options.

Prior to the pandemic, data scientists at Ladders found that only 4 percent of jobs were available remotely — by the end of 2022, it had skyrocketed to 36 percent, according to a report by CNBC.

With that in mind, here's a look at Ziply Fiber's annual report of best jobs for remote work in 2023. The team analyzed data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, CNBC, Business Insider, and Flexjobs to come up with the list. Flexjobs cited accounting and finance, marketing, computer and IT, project management, and HR and recruiting among the categories that dominate the remote marketplace. However, the categories of event planning, travel and hospitality, and legal grew by 45 percent in the first half of 2022 compared to the last half of 2021.

Workers in California are in the right place to score a remote job with a fat paycheck. CNBC came up with a list of the 10 best cities to find a remote job that pays $100,000 per year or more. San Francisco tops the list, with Los Angeles in sixth place. Here is the full list.
