City Eats at SFSU Supports Students Observing Ramadan

City Eats accommodates students observing Ramadan by providing halal-certified meals and options for the pre-dawn meal during holy month

San Francisco State University's dining facility, City Eats, is proud to announce its initiative to accommodate students observing Ramadan by providing halal-certified meals and options for the pre-dawn meal during this holy month.

From March 10 to April 8, City Eats is offering halal-certified meats at the Daily Dish station during dinner. Additionally, students observing Ramadan will have the option to take a meal to go for the pre-dawn meal the following day, as City Eats is not open at dawn. The additional menu includes dates and protein balls for students to take with them.

David F Rourke, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life, emphasizes the importance of fostering inclusivity and support for the Muslim community during Ramadan. He notes, "Observing Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is a time of profound spiritual growth, discipline, and charity that enriches not only those who fast but our collective campus experience through shared understanding and empathy."
