NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As a new week begins, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for a great week.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect expect a brief cooldown following a scorching heat wave, according to the National Weather Service.

"Day 7 of the inland heat wave," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Monday. "There will be a decent cooling trend through Tuesday before temperatures increase again Wed-Fri. More substantial cooling is on the way this weekend."
