Lifelong Learners Rule!

Congratulations to all! Your achievements will have a profound effect on our lives.

Since 2000, Assistance League® Diablo Valley’s Scholarships program, presently chaired by Cindi Segale, has provided financial and emotional support to high school, community college and university students as well as returnees to the academic community. Each recipient, 58 in total this year, has expressed a desire to advance through education by maintaining a designated grade point average, volunteering in campus and community projects and charting an academic timeline.

During the Awards presentation held on May 14, at the Pleasant Hill Community Center Perera Pavilion, Scholarships recipients, i.e., future biochemists, nurses, engineers, speech therapists, et al, acknowledged the generosity of foundations, individual donors (chapter members included) and revenue earned at the Assistance League Thrift Shop, the chapter’s primary fundraiser, located in Lafayette. Their collective message, “I want to thank my family for their sacrifice and support…now I have the financial capability to pursue my dreams.” Many mentioned, “I will be the first in my family to graduate from college.”

The 2024 Scholarships categories, seven in total, include Foster/Kinship Youth, High School, Community College, Return to School, Lisa Parker Hearst Memorial, Vocational/Technical/Trade Awards and Spotlight.
