'Friday Nights Live' Series To Bring Family-Friendly Fun To Santee

SANTEE, CA — Santee is celebrating summer's near arrival with the return of the Friday Nights Live series at Santee Trolley Square.

The series serves as an early kick-off to summer with free family fun and live entertainment. Friday Nights Live will take place on four consecutive Fridays starting May 17 through June 7.

"Friday Nights Live is a new event series that increases the opportunities for the community to enjoy some free family fun in Santee," Becky Lowndes, the city's special events supervisor, told Patch. "Located in the heart of Trolley Square, Friday Nights Live is a perfect opportunity to pick up dinner from a local eatery and enjoy an evening of fun entertainment."

This year's live performance schedule features Jean's Dance Studio on May 17, Expressions Dance Studio on May 24, Staump Music School on May 31, and Miss Santee Pageant on June 7.

In recognition of Public Works Week, which is May 19-24, the city will host Touch-A-Truck Night during the May 24 Friday Nights Live event. The special event is a new addition to the lineup and will showcase public works equipment.

Other activities may include arts and crafts, caricature artists, climbing walls, face painting, photo booths, giveaways and more, according to the city.

All events are scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Santee Trolley Square at 9850 Mission Gorge Road.
