Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Capitol Corridor Train In Solano Co.

The fatality Monday afternoon delayed train no. 537 between Vacaville and Suisun.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — UPDATED: Amtrak officials confirmed there was a fatality when a Capitol Corridor train hit a pedestrian Monday afternoon in Solano County. The collision happened at about 1 p.m. near Tabor Avenue in Fairfield, according to Amtrak officials.

Service on Capitol Corridor train No. 537 was delayed between Vacaville and Suisun, as the train was stopped on Railroad Avenue between Tabor and Sunset avenues. There were 129 passengers and crew members on board, with no reported injuries aboard the train.

Amtrak initially reported the fatality as a "trespasser incident" on the Capitol Corridor Twitter account.

Police personnel for Amtrak were working with local law enforcement to conduct an investigation into the fatality.

Service was restored on train 537 as of 3:40 p.m., Amtrak officials said.

Train 541 departed Martinez ahead of train 537 because of the fatality and train 540 was running approximately 40 minutes behind, the agency said.
