Car Chase Near Temecula Mall Ends With Hit-And-Run Friday

CHP reports that two cars chased each other from French Valley Parkway and I-15, Winchester, near the movie theater and back to Murrieta.

TEMECULA, CA — The Temecula Valley California Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run with no injuries that occurred Friday morning at Murrieta Hot Springs Road and the southbound I-15 Freeway.

Just after 8 a.m., 911 callers reported that two vehicles were chasing each other, heading southbound at I-15 and the French Valley Parkway. Those cars exited at Winchester and raced toward the Promenade Temecula Mall near the movie theater, according to CHP dispatch reports by witnesses.

The cars headed toward the movie theater, then ultimately rammed another vehicle, CHP officer Mike Lassig confirmed.

The struck driver alerted CHP that they were "going the speed limit on I-15 southbound at Murrieta Hot Springs" when they were hit.

"The reporting party said he was intentionally rammed" as they were heading under the bridge, CHP dispatch operators reported.

Officers responded to the scene of the hit-and-run shortly before 8:45 a.m. CHP was investigating the incident, following up on witness reports, Lassig said. No other information was immediately available.
