TEMECULA, CA — Christmas has come and gone, and while the tree may still be merry under the lights and sparkle, a live tree can become a fire hazard as it dries out.

When it's time for recycling, CR&R Inc., the City's franchised waste hauler, will provide a Christmas tree recycling program for the residents of Temecula.

"CR&R will start picking up your Christmas trees on the first scheduled pick-up date after Dec. 26th through Jan. 19, 2024," the city said.

You can help by cutting up your tree and putting it into your green barrel.

"If this is not possible, please cut your tree in half and leave it near the green barrel," they said.

Trees must be free of ornaments, including tinsel.

All trees will be recycled into compost or mulch, except for trees that are "flocked" with snow. Flocked trees will be collected but not composted.
