The California Highway Patrol would like to remind parents and caregivers that an unrestrained child in a car is at significant risk of injury or death in the event of a traffic collision. Protect your children by using age appropriate passenger restraint devises.

All children 8 years or younger must be properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat in the back seat of a vehicle. Children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear-facing, age appropriate child safety seat in the rear seat. Your child’s life depends on that car seat.
