TEMECULA, CA — Temecula Valley residents enjoyed a brief respite from the hot weather Sunday as cloud cover brought in humidity and relieved the triple-digit temperatures. A few showers spattered the region, though desert communities saw monsoon storms along with high winds and blowing dust, the National Weather Service reported.

Over the next week, some areas of Riverside County will remain in high temperatures, the National Weather Service said, with some county valleys reaching 106 degrees by Tuesday.

A few of our mountain communities below 5,000 feet will see temperatures hovering around 100. Idyllwild will see high temperatures in the 80s, and a chance of monsoonal thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday.

"Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water."
