TEMECULA, CA — Temecula Valley Hospital is laying the groundwork for a substantial expansion at its current site.

The expansion, proposed to take place in phases at the campus located at 31700 Temecula Parkway, calls for two more hospital towers that would each include 125,000 square feet spread across five stories; a four-story 102,000-square-foot behavioral health building; an additional 20,000 square feet for the existing emergency department; and two 80,000-square-foot medical office buildings. The expansion would also include a four-story parking structure as well as additional parking lots across the campus. The existing helipad would be moved to the parking structure roof. A 14,000-square-foot utility plant is also planned.

The Temecula Valley Hospital campus currently includes a hospital building, a storage building, helipad, roads, parking, as well as drain and stormwater infrastructure. The hospital opened in 2013.

The proposal is currently going through the environment review process. A draft Environmental Impact Report is expected this spring/summer. The public will get a chance to comment on the draft; a final EIR is expected later this year.

The final environmental document will need signoff from both the city's planning commission and city council; public hearings are anticipated late this year through early 2023.

An initial public scoping meeting was held March 23.
