TEMECULA, CA — There's a countdown clock on the home page of singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo's website that ticks toward her new single "Vampire," the Temecula singer announced over social media.

" Vampire" is available for download on Friday and is part of her new album "Guts," scheduled for a September release.

This project follows Olivia Rodrigo's debut effort, "Sour," for which she earned three Grammy awards, according to a Variety report.

The singer, born in Murrieta and grew up in Temecula, recently shared a statement about the upcoming project.

"For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life," she wrote. "I feel like I grew ten years between the ages of 18 and 20 — it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that's all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully, the album reflects that."

Rodrigo released her first single, "Drivers License," at just 17 years old. She told Variety at the time how that wove its way into the album, "Sour." That work turned into a quadruple platinum effort, and according to Billboard 200, the longest-running debut album of the 21st century, Variety reported.

"I definitely talked about my deepest, darkest secrets and insecurities on 'Sour,'" she said. "It's been really awesome for me to see people resonate with that vulnerability and relate to it."

"Vampire" launches Rodrigo into her next chapter, and true to her habits, she says she still writes her songs in her room at home. Her previous work earned her Grammy awards for Best New Artist, Pop Vocal Album, and Song of the Year for "Drivers License," a ballad that exposed deep thoughts and feelings, striking a chord with fans across the globe.

Now, she waits to see how her next effort performs.

"Guts" is produced by Geffen Records, and "Sour" producer Daniel Nigro is listed as a producer on the new album. She described their relationship on Billboard.com in 2022, saying:

"We have such a good groove together. We are always sharing ideas back and forth and have been carving out time to work together in the studio. I trust him so much and really enjoy the music we've been making."
