School Bus Crash Slows Traffic In French Valley

Traffic was slow on southbound Winchester Road from La Alba Drive to Sparkamn Way Friday morning due to a TVUSD bus crash.

FRENCH VALLEY, CA — A Temecula Valley Unified School District school bus carrying 29 middle schoolers was rear-ended Friday morning in the area of La Alba Drive and Winchester Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the scene just after 8 a.m., Officer Mike Lassig said.

"Just before 8 a.m., a 54-passenger school bus was headed southbound on Winchester Road when it was rear-ended by the driver of a Volkswagen Tiguan," Lassig said. "Fortunately, no one on the school bus was injured."

The bus was en route to Bella Vista Middle School, according to Lassig.

The driver, a 32-year-old Temecula woman, complained of pain after the crash but refused medical attention, according to officials.

According to CHP reports, a second school bus was en route to the area as of 8 a.m. However, it was unknown when that replacement bus would arrive.
