HEMET, CA — A Riverside County sheriff's deputy was out of custody after posting $1 million bail following his weekend arrest on suspicion of kidnapping to commit rape, rape by fear/force, and forced oral copulation of a sheriff's office volunteer, according to authorities.

Alexander Ravy Vanny, 33, was taken into custody at his workplace — the Hemet's Sheriff's Station — shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday. He was released Sunday, jail records show.

His arrest followed a June 21 conversation between the volunteer and another deputy, and the woman told the deputy about the alleged sexual assault.

"The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office condemns any form of misconduct involving its personnel on or off duty and remains resolute in its commitment to deterring and preventing such behavior," the agency said. "The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office will employ all necessary measures to ensure employees are held to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism."
