In an effort to blend satire with a pound of truth this is a hypothetical interview with Angela Merkel and President Biden.

Journalist: Mrs. Merkel and Mr. President I would like to thank you for sitting down with us today to consider the impact of global warming.

Journalist: Mrs. Merkel, what have you done in your political career to help reduce global warming?

Mrs. Merkel: I am so glad to be here with you today. This is a topic that is near and dear to me. While I was Chancellor, I shut down the dirty coal power plants in Germany and all of the country’s nuclear facilities. Global Warming is far too important to continue using those forms of energy.

Journalist: Wow, that is impressive. How did you reduce your country's energy usage by that much?

Mrs. Merkel: Oh no, no, no. We didn’t reduce our country's energy usage at all. We simply bought that energy from different global suppliers, primarily Russia.

Journalist: How then did you help reduce Germany's global warming footprint?

Mrs. Merkel: I am sorry I don’t understand the question.

Journalist: Mrs. Merkel, it seems you reduced Germany's energy production by XX and then bought that same amount of energy from another global supplier. How would that reduce the world's global warming?

Mrs. Merkel: I am sorry, my aides tell me I have to go. I appreciate your efforts to shine a light on this important topic.

Journalist: President Biden your commitment to the environment is unquestioned. When you first came into office you killed the oil pipeline from Canada, restricted drilling and used various government agencies to discourage energy companies from producing oil and natural gas in the United States. How did you get the United States to reduce its energy consumption by so much?

President Biden: Well, that is the trick! We actually did not reduce our energy consumption at all, we simply bought more energy from other countries that are traditionally hostile to the United States.

Journalist: I don’t understand, how would those actions reduce global warming?

President Biden: Oh, my boy, you must be a Fox News Journalist. The United States is producing less oil and gas. That is what matters.

Journalist: Mr. President it appears we just replaced that production with energy from other countries that may not drill for oil and gas with the same safeguards as American producers. Wouldn’t that possibly increase global warming?

President Biden: I am sorry I am being told that I have other important matters to attend to, I want to thank you for focusing on these serious environmental issues.
