Temecula Chinese School hosted a Chinese New Year celebration on February 10th.

The classrooms of the school were decorated with Chinese ornaments. The high-hanging blessings were filled with festive auspiciousness. The red spring couplets, and the meaningful "Spring" pendants gave a strong, festive, ambience. Many children wore colorful Tang costumes as they smiled and experienced the joy and excitement of the holiday.

The entertainment was hosted by Temecula Chinese School‘s students with both Chinese and English, announcing the performance of the bilingual class’s “Happy New Year,” which kickstarted the show. Following, the children of different classes sang, told idiom stories, recited poems, and acted small drama performances, among others. Each student did their best to complete the performance and show the parents and guests the results of their learning, winning bursts of applause.

The school also prepared lucky red envelopes for the children who participated in the performances. When the children received the lucky red envelope, they all smiled. After the performance, the children and parents went to various classrooms to participate in traditional Chinese crafts, including handmade paper lanterns, paper-cutting, origami and other game activities. In the process, the children experienced Chinese traditions and learned more about the Chinese culture. In addition, the school also set up a photobooth, hired a professional photographer to photograph the families, leaving beautiful New Year memories.

The children and the guests also tasted the carefully prepared Chinese-style cuisine brought by the Chinese school’s parents. The celebration ended with everyone’s laughter and blessings. Guests said that this year’s Spring Festival had a real festive atmosphere and expressed hopes for such activities to continue being carried out, to let more people understand China and the Chinese culture, let more students want to learn the Chinese language, and make progress together in our Chinese school!
