TEMECULA, CA — Temecula Mayor Zak Schwank invited "Lisa From Temecula" — a Saturday Night Live character played by Ego Nwodim — to sit at the mayor's table during the Temecula State of the City address in August.

Tuesday night at the Temecula City Council meeting, Schwank described what led to the unique invitation to the actress who has brought the city so much attention.

"We were approached by NBC Los Angeles when they were going to interview Ego Nwodim earlier this week," Schwank said. "Rather than send a brief statement we decided to lean into this and acknowledge 'Lisa from Temecula' and fully appreciate everything Ego, NBC and SNL has done in character development."

"Lisa from Temecula" is portrayed by Nwodim as an extremely outspoken, opinionated woman who frequently shares her affiliation with Temecula.

Schwank first thanked NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and Ego Nwodim for introducing the world to Temecula in the prerecorded video (full video below).

"The city of Temecula is proud to claim 'Lisa From Temecula' as one of our own. We'll have salad tossed with lots of ranch dressing, and the extra extra well-done steak is on me," Schwank said. "The city of Temecula is enjoying our newest resident, 'Lisa from Temecula.'"

Mario Lopez, a frequent visitor to wine country, played the clip for the actress who laughed and clapped as the mayor spoke. When Lopez encouraged her to attend, Nwodim agreed on the spot.

"I just know Temecula from living here and that it's wine country," she said during the interview. "I knew what it was as soon as I heard it."

Nwodim expressed she would try and make it to the State of the City, she said."That is unreal. I'm going! I'm going!"

The invitations are still in the works, and Nwodim will absolutely be getting one.
