TEMECULA, CA — The newly remodeled Walmart Supercenter in Temecula was unveiled Friday morning with much fanfare, including appearances by local U.S. congressmembers and state assemblymembers, as well as Temecula government officials.

A celebratory ribbon-cutting for the store at 32225 Temecula Parkway was attended by Temecula Mayor Zak Schwank, Congressman Ken Calvert, Congressman Darrell Issa, Assemblymember Kate Sanchez, Temecula City Councilmembers, a representative from state Senator Kelly Seyarto’s office and a representative from Supervisor Chuck Washington’s Office.

"This remodel is really special to our Supercenter and is different than others happening in the state because it coincides with our 20-year anniversary of service to Temecula. This investment from Walmart solidifies our continued dedication to the region," said Supercenter manager Lee Malabrigo. "We are looking forward to welcoming customers back into our transformed space to experience a better, more efficient shopping experience."

Walmart's contribution to the local tax base is also a likely reason for the ribbon-cutting's high turnout of local dignitaries. According to city documents, the Supercenter is consistently among Temecula's top sales tax producers.

Included in the new remodel is an eye-catching mural highlighting local features of the Temecula community. It is part of Walmart’s "Community Mural Program," which is touted as the largest public-facing art installation celebrating communities across America. In the Temecula store, the mural includes an artist's rendering of the Old Town Temecula entrance.

During Friday's event, the Supercenter also presented $12,500 in grants to local nonprofit organizations, including:

  • $4,000 to the Rotary Club of Temecula
  • $1,500 to the Riverside Police Officers Association
  • $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County
  • $2,500 to Temecula Valley High School
