After Baby Declared Dead In Denver Hospital, Mother Arrested

A woman brought her non-responsive infant to a local hospital. Emergency workers failed to resuscitate the child, who was declared dead.

DENVER, CO โ€“ A mother was arrested by Denver police after her seven-month-old baby was declared dead at the emergency room of a local hospital early Tuesday morning May 21.

Cintrease Dailey, 31, was arrested and is facing charges of child abuse resulting in death, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Police were called to Rose Medical Center around 5:15 a.m. to investigate after a boy infant was brought to the hospital emergency room by his mother and another family member at 3:45 a.m., a statement from police said. The child was not breathing when he was brought to the hospital. emergency workers tried to resuscitate the child, but were unable to, and he was pronounced dead.

Police and hospital workers said the child showed evidence of "suspected trauma." Detectives from the Denver Police Homicide Unit were called to investigate the death, a statement from police said.

Police did not release the name of the baby, but the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and release the identity at a later time.

Meanwhile, Dailey is being held on no bond at Denver County jail awaiting charges, according to an inmate roster. The Denver District Attorneyโ€™s office will make the final determination on potential charges, police said.
