In 1944, one of the worst fire disasters in American history occurred in Hartford. The circus fire has lived in the memories of survivors and the imaginations of Connecticans ever since. In this presentation, photos and artifacts from the Connecticut Museum’s collection will help tell the stories of that day. The presentation will examine the ways in which Connecticans have continued to identify, honor, and bring justice to the victims in the intervening decades.&nbsp;

The 224 Ecospace

Connecticut Ballet, the state's professional ballet company, will hold open auditions for boys and girls ages 4-17 for its upcoming 40th anniversary production of 'The Nutcracker' on Sunday, September 22nd at 224 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT (former Hartford Ballet studios). The production will take place December 21 &amp; 22 at The Bushnell. Rehearsals commence in early October and take place on Wednesdays and/or Sundays throughout the Fall.&nbsp; Previous dance experience is helpful but not required for children ages 4-10. Here's the schedule for September 22nd:
1:00-1:30pm - ages 4-5 1:30-2:15pm - ages 6-7 2:30-3:30pm - ages 8-10 3:45-4:45pm - ages 11-13 5:00-5:45pm - ages 14-17
Parent/guardian must accompany each child and must be available to sign audition paperwork upon arrival. Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start time and be prepared to stay the entire time. Dance attire: leotard, tights bike shorts (boys), t-shirts (boys), ballet slippers, hair neatly up in a bun or pulled back, no skirts, no jewelry. There is a $100 participation fee for those offered roles (this includes a dvd of the performance of your choice) plus additional monies to support the production.
