DURHAM, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Robert Charles Dragon, 74, of Durham, loving husband of his childhood sweetheart, Patricia (Socha) Dragon for 53 years, passed away July 4, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital with his family by his side.

Bob was born in Waterbury on August 8, 1947, a son of the late George and Helen (Spellman) Dragon.

He served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War and later had a successful career in Aviation with Canadair (now Bombardier Aerospace) and other aviation companies.

He spent many summers camping at Hammonasset as a child, where he met his wife, and later carried on the tradition with his own children, Chris and Heather.

Bob was an avid sportsman regularly enjoying anything and everything outdoors, including fishing, hunting, archery, and time with his friends at The New Haven Raccoon Club where he was a lifetime member.

If you knew Bob, you would remember his love for his pets and in particular his dogs over the years, and most recently his beloved Samson who was always by his side.

His grandchildren were the light of his life, bringing joy and smiles to him, and he in return was the best Papa they could ever hope for.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his son, Christopher Dragon and his partner Gina Reyes, of Beacon Falls; his daughter, Heather Strange and her husband, Zander, of San Francisco; his grandchildren, Bailey Dragon, Justin & Erick Reyes, and Harper & Max Strange, as well as many extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother, George S. Dragon Jr. and his nephew, George S. Dragon III.

All services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob's name and honor to Vintage Pet Rescue (www.vintagepetrescue.org), an incredible non-profit organization for senior dogs, run by Heather's close friends Kristen and Marc Peralta.
