Brown Calf Escapes Twice in 2 Weeks

The calf was seen roaming in the Osprey Drive area, chowing down on grass.

A calf caused quite the commotion in Ledyard on Tuesday, Sept. 15. He was seen eating a delicious dinner of grass on Osprey Drive and was the talk of the town on the Ledyard Animal Control Facebook.

The animal control officer shared a photograph of the calf and asked if anyone knew who his owners were. Some people speculated on Facebook that he was a Scottish Highland Calf.

Residents who also owned calfs checked their yards and reported back that they were present and accounted for.

This particular calf appears to be adept at adventures, as he was also found roaming last week. Last week, the owners were not located but this week, the animal control officer was able to connect with them at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Robyn Lisa was one of the people who thought they saw the meandering mammal.

“I wonder if this is what I saw on side of road on Sandy Hollow yesterday evening,” she wrote. “It scared the crap outta me as we drove by! Saw something standing on side of road by a tree not far from end of Sandy Hollow and 117.”
