Special Weather Statement Issued for New London County

The National Weather Service states that motorists traveling Tuesday evening should exercise extra caution when driving.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Special Weather Statement” for northern New London County, warning of possible black ice Tuesday evening, especially after 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service writes:

“... Areas of black ice possible overnight... Cold air easing southward from central New England could allow for the development of black ice overnight as temperatures fall to freezing or below. Elevated roadways and untreated surfaces will be the most vulnerable. Motorists should exercise caution if traveling tonight [Tuesday], particularly after 8 p.m.”
