NEW CANAAN, CT — A motorcyclist was injured in a crash early Wednesday morning after the bike he was riding left the roadway in New Canaan, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said the single-motorcycle crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Smith Ridge and North Wilton roads.

New Canaan police, firefighters and EMS crews were all called to the area.

An investigation revealed the motorcyclist was traveling north on Smith Ridge Road and left the roadway to a grass area at the intersection of Smith Ridge and North Wilton roads, according to DeFelice.

The rider, a man who was found in the grass area next to the motorcycle, was injured in the crash and taken to Norwalk Hospital by EMS, DeFelice said.

There were no other vehicles involved or witnesses to the crash, according to DeFelice.

Smith Ridge and North Wilton roads are both open to all traffic as of Wednesday morning, DeFelice said.
