NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Public Schools recently announced the appointment of Theresa McIntosh, BSN, RN, as the district's new district nursing supervisor.

According to a news release provided by the district, McIntosh will replace Janet Reed, who retired in June 2024.

With an extensive background in public health and school nursing, McIntosh brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role. McIntosh was welcomed to the district on July 1, and will use her expertise to enhance the district's health services and ensure a safe and supportive educational environment for all staff and students, according to NCPS.

"I am incredibly honored to join the New Canaan Public Schools community as the district nursing supervisor," McIntosh said in a news release. "I am passionate about ensuring that every student is cared for and has access to resources and staff who can support them and their specific needs. I look forward to working with the dedicated team of nurses and staff to create a safe and healthy environment for all students."

McIntosh joins NCPS from Greenwich Public Schools, where she served as a senior public health nurse since 2019. Her career spans over a decade, during which she has managed specialized medical needs for students, developed comprehensive care plans, maintained health records and provided essential training and education for staff on emergency medications, according to the district.

McIntosh also played a crucial role in managing the COVID-19 response, including contact tracing and developing quarantine protocols, district officials said.

McIntosh's professional experience also includes roles as a registered nurse at both Greenwich Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital, where she provided exemplary care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients.

Superintendent Bryan Luizzi shared his enthusiasm for McIntosh's appointment.

"We are thrilled to welcome Theresa McIntosh to our outstanding nursing team," Luizzi said in a news release. "Her extensive experience in public health and school nursing, combined with her proven leadership skills, make her an excellent fit for our district. Theresa's commitment to student health and well-being is evident, and we are excited to welcome her into our school community."
