New Canaan Town Hall Fully Reopens

Public in-person meetings for all town boards, commissions and committees are also expected to resume this summer.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Town official announced this week Town Hall and other town buildings have fully reopened to the public in light of coronavirus restrictions no longer being in effect.

In a news release Thursday, officials said the reopening applies to all town buildings, including the Town Hall Annex (human services department), Waveny House (recreation department), Lapham Community Center and Vine Cottage (health department).

Town officials said masks are only required for anyone not fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. Those who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear one.

"If you feel ill or have any COVID-19 symptoms," the release reads, "please do not enter but call the department you need to arrange a remote meeting."

Additionally, officials said Town Hall will operate on summer hours of operation from June 2 until Sept. 3, which is Labor Day.

Public in-person meetings for all town boards, commissions and committees are also expected to resume after July 1, however some boards and commissions may continue to operate in a hybrid format. Information regarding specific meetings, including log in information, can be found on the town website under the "agenda and minutes" box or on the town calendar.

Officials also noted many tasks can still be performed online or by mail, including paying property taxes and sewer fees, getting dog licenses, obtaining transfer station passes and parking permits, reserving Mead Park and high school tennis courts and Waveny platform tennis courts, reviewing town clerk and assessor records, applying for building permits, registering to vote and obtaining police reports.
