4 Injured — 1 Seriously — In 2-Car Orange Crash: Police

The crash occurred at 4 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Derby Avenue and Mapledale Road.

ORANGE, CT — A two-car crash in Orange Thursday afternoon left four people injured, one seriously, according to police.

The 4 p.m. crash occurred at the intersection of Derby Avenue (Rt. 34) and Mapledale Road, and involved a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville, driven by Andre Tinney, 38, of Ansonia, and a 2018 Mazda 3 driven by Samuel DeBerry, 26, of Hamden.

Orange police said that Tinney was exiting Mapledale Road to turn left onto Derby Avenue westbound, and DeBerry was traveling eastbound on Derby Avenue when the two vehicles collided in the left lane of Derby Avenue.

"The Orange Volunteer Fire Department responded to extricate Mr. Tinney from the Pontiac, and he was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital by AMR ambulance with life-threatening injuries," police said. "Mr. DeBerry and the front passengers from each of the vehicles were also transported for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries."

Whether either driver faces the possibility of charges was not disclosed.
