ORANGE,CT — A pack of three coyotes separately chased two dog walkers with their leashed dogs last Sunday morning at the Housatonic Overlook open space in Orange, according to police.

The dogs were not attacked, but the incident has prompted police to issue a warning on the department's Facebook page.

"This level of aggressive behavior is often associated with the early spring denning period (April - May) but may persist into early summer as pups travel away from dens and adult coyotes may react aggressively to dogs approaching their loafing or core territory," Orange police wrote. "This aggressive behavior towards dogs and dog walkers may persist this summer and then subside as family packs move to other locations."
