Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Orange

By the look of Wednesday's forecast you'd think it was July and not winter. And some snow is still possible later this week.

Of course on the last day of February the National Weather Service and Connecticut’s meteorologists are predicting weather that you might normally expect to find in the middle of summer and not during the winter.

The National Weather Service has already issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for the state on Wednesday for the chance of severe thunderstorms, which could include strong winds and hail.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote Tuesday morning that, “Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day. A round of rain before daybreak, a few scattered showers/storm in the midday, and the chance for severe storms in the late afternoon and evening. While the severe weather chance isn't a certainty it's possible any storms that develop could contain gusty winds, small hail, and possibly an isolated tornado. This is exceptionally unusual for March 1!”

In its Hazardous Weather Outlook for southern Connecticut, the National Weather Service says there is a chance for severe thunderstorms Wednesday evening, with the main threat being from damaging wind gusts.

For Hartford and Tolland counties, the weather service states, ”There is potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and night,” with the greatest impacts being strong gusty winds.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “Mild 50s expected today! Some sun and lots of clouds with the sprinkle possible. Higher threat for rain overnight tonight. A thunderstorm possible with warmer temperatures tomorrow. Colder winds and wind chill coming in late Thursday right into the weekend.”
