ORANGE, CT — Hiking is a great way to experience the outdoors with family and friends, but if hiking with goats makes the trail more enjoyable, now’s the chance to make it happen.

The Orange Land Trust is sponsoring a Goat Hike and “Kids with Kids Event” on Saturday, June 10, with three different start times.

The hike will be led by Kristen Sassano Gill of “Got Your Goat” and her friendly goats on an easy 1-mile hike through the Racebrook Tract, 100 Ohman Ave.

No pets of any kind are allowed at the event other than the goats.

Hike 1 is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and Hike 2 is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

During the two hikes, people can hike with goats through the beautiful trails of Racebrook Tract and learn about some of Orange’s native plants and animals, and you’ll enjoy the opportunity to play and socialize with the goats.

Tickets for hikes 1 and 2 are $20 per person or $50 per family.

Hike 3 is the “Kids with Kids” event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no hiking involved in this time slot. However, goats will still be present. The goats will gather in a grassy area giving children an excellent opportunity to pet, hold and feed the goats. Children will prepare a goat salad to feed the goats (please consider bringing an apple, carrot or raisins to add to your salad). Children will also make a hoofprint craft to take home.

Adults are free for this event, and tickets are $10 per child.

More information and tickets can be purchased at the Eventbrite website.
