'New Kid In The School District': Orange Star Student

We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Orange.

Joey has made so many friends within his classroom and even with his basketball team that he has recently joined, and so excited to play baseball this summer for Orange Little League.

ORANGE, CT —Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Bobby Johnston who nominated his stepson, third-grader Joey, in Orange.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Joey is a new student to Orange School District and being the new kid he has adapted so well and have made so many friends. Joey is a hardworking, intelligent and kind, loving kid who puts everyone; person or animal first. He has made so many friends within his classroom and even with his basketball team that he has recently joined, and so excited to play baseball this summer for Orange Little League. Joey loves his teacher and always talks highly about anyone that he comes around. Joeys heart is so big that he continues to amaze his family day in and day out with his caring nature.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Joeys Heart is as big as the Earth; even bigger.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Joey!
