Orange Native Films and Stars in Movie About an Unconventional Father-Daughter Relationship

Filmmaker Victoria Negri tells the tale of her relationship with her elderly father and his death.

Victoria Negri, of Orange, is filming a feature length film about her struggle with her father’s stroke, the New Haven Register reports.

The film, “Gold Star”, is being shot at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford on a “micro-budget” of $50,000.

Negri’s father, Carmine Negri died in November 2012 at the age of 88 from complications of a stroke and pneumonia, Negri writes on the film’s website. Negri was 20 at the time of her father’s death and says the film was born from the frustration of wanting to get to know someone when you fear it’s too late.

To stay within budget, the film is being shot entirely on location in Connecticut. Robert Vaughn plays Carmine Negri in the film and “Orange is the New Black” actress Catherine Curtin plays the role of Deanne Negri, Victoria Negri’s mother. Victoria Negri will star as herself.

According to the paper, the film is expected to take another 10 days to finish shooting.
